Visitors here today at Standard Quay @1897dawn ⛵️ @blueschoonercompany complete a circuit every year that starts in Europe and then sails to the Caribbean on The Gallant 🏝 It sails to Trinidad to pick up cacao beans and on to Colombia for green coffee beans before heading back to Europe just before spring, to Portugal. Here they collect Olives, Olive Oil, Almonds, dries beans and pulses and Chickpeas. The next stop is France, where the pick up natural sea salt, made in a traditional way. After this they sail to the UK where they stop at various ports. Cornwall, where cacao beans are made in to chocolate and coffee is roasted, goods are the transported Kent @kentsailcargo in Queenborough where the Gallant is then unloaded and loaded on to @1897dawn a Thames Sailing Barge, built in 1897. Dawn was then sailed last night from Queenborough, under Kings Ferry Bridge (see picture) to Milton Creek and delivered cargo to a Sailing Barge call @raybelcharters which is being restored and continued their sail on Dawn, to Hearty Ferry, Oare, round to Faversham Creek where they arrived here at Standard Quay.
This sailing circuit is completed twice a year and the @1897dawn will be back in September!
